Banfi Vintners

The Pursuit of Excellence

Banfi Vintners' dedication to a finer wine world includes the pursuit of excellence in making pure and natural wines, and respecting the environment, our colleagues and the consumer.

The Mariani family, proprietors of Banfi Vintners, practice green winemaking at their own Castello Banfi and Vigne Regali estates, and share the same priorities with the families behind each of the Banfi import portfolio wineries.

Castello Banfi, is the first winery in the world to be awarded international recognition for exceptional environmental, ethical and social responsibility (ISO 14001 and SA8000) as well as an international leader in customer satisfaction (ISO 9001:2000). Emiliana was Chile's first wine producer certified for biodynamic agriculture, environmental management and fair trade practices. The Cecchi family was one of the first in Italy to establish a grasslands area for the re-cycling of water. These and other practices affirm that not only individuals, but the business itself must support ethical values as part of the definition of responsible behavior.

Sustainable Agriculture: Indicates an exceptional commitment to sustaining and improving the environment

Certified Organic: grapes grown without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides for at least 3 years. Wines labeled "made with organic grapes" (or something similar), must contain at least 70% certified organic ingredients and follow government guidelines for processing the wine.

Bio Dynamic: Practices take a "super-charged organic" look at the vineyards; viewing the farm as an organism that is a self contained entity with its own individuality. The farming practices set out to achieve quality by following cycles and rhythms of the earth and the universe beyond.
